Power 96.1’s third annual Jingle Ball will feature a mix of rock, pop and hip hop including Calvin Harris, Fall Out Boy, T.I. and Jessie J.
The top 40 station has also moved the concert from Philips Arena to the smaller Gwinnett Arena. The concert is scheduled for Dec. 19.
Tickets start at $45.00 and will go on sale Friday, October 10, at 10 a.m. via www.power961.com, The Arena at Gwinnett Center Box Office, GwinnettCenter.com, or call 1-888-9-AXS-TIX.
This is a decidedly less compelling line up than the first two. In 2012, Power 96.1 brought in Ke$sha, Enrique Iglesias, Justin Bieber and Flo Rida. In 2013, the concert drew Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Flo Rida and Pitbull.
Calvin Harris is a much bigger deal in Europe than the U.S. but he’s had several top 40 hits including the most recent one “Summer.”
Fall Out Boy was at Aaron’s Amphitheatre in July. They’ve had a long run of success on the pop charts with five top 10 singles over the past decade. Their most recent hit was last year’s “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light ‘em Up)”
T.I. is a curious choice. He’s more rap/hip-hop than pop. But he has a long career and dozens of hip-hop hits under his belt.
As for Jessie J, she has three big pop hits on her resume: 2011’s “Price Tag” and “Domino” plus her current hit “Bang Bang,” which also features Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
