Cadillac Jack has been in Atlanta and Kicks for 22 years. Rodney Ho/rho@ajc.com

This was posted on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 by Rodney Ho on his AJC Radio & TV Talk blog

Kicks 101.5’s morning host Cadillac Jack is set to return on air Monday, March 27, a month after having a heart attack.

He’s actually in good shape and his doctor told him that is why he survived. As a result, he’s been able to bounce back relatively quickly and has been given the clearance to go back to work full time next week.

Carl Black Buick GMC in Kennesaw, which has supported Kicks for many years, is hosting a welcome back party Monday morning. Feel free to come by and say hi to him.

This week, he has been coming in a couple of hours a day to get himself back into full gear.

Caddy has been a Kicks fixture for more than 22 years, one of the longest runs on air in this market at the same radio station.

In another medical update, B98.5’s mid-day host and music director Tripp West is still in rehab after a brain tumor was removed a few weeks ago. His wife Jill posted this update on his Facebook page

We are still in rehab in North Carolina. We had a slight set back two weeks ago as Tripp became dehydrated and had to have an IV. The dehydration is part of an issue with the pituitary- his diuretic hormone (managed by the pituitary) was off balance. We find out tomorrow if we will be discharged home or if insurance will give him another week in rehab. He is still confused but making SLOW progress. Thank you for your posts, messages, and texts. Please continue to keep Tripp West in your thoughts. Betsy Cook West (Tripp’s Mom) is here keeping us company.

Drex is covering for him on air in the interim. He does not have a return date set yet.

News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB celebrated its 95th birthday last week. Here’s a video to celebrate that landmark. (I presume, the 100th anniversary in 2022 will be an even bigger deal.)

February didn’t show a lot of movement from January in the Atlanta radio ratings, as measured by Nielsen Audio.

News station WSB remained the dominant No. 1 overall with a 9.9 rating, down from a record-breaking 10.7.

R&B/hip-hop station V-103 regained the top slot among 25 to 54 year olds and nabbed the 18-34 slot from Hot for the first time since last September.  R&B station Kiss 104.1 had its best month since last June. Rival R&B station Majic 107.5/97.5 .had its best month in a year.

Fish 104.7, B98.5 and Kicks 101.5 had strong months. 92.9/The Game settled back after a Falcon-fueled January, falling from 4.4 to 3.1. Christian pop staiton Joy 93.3 enjoyed its best ratings book in its history, hitting a 2 rating.

WSB, Kiss, 97.1/The River and B98.5, along with the Atlanta-Journal Constitution are part of Cox Media Group.

Atlanta talk show host Bryan Crabtree, who is heard on 920/The Answer from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Biz 1190/AM from 4 to 6 p.m. daily, joined the White House press briefing last week through Skype and got to ask press secretary Sean Spicer a couple of questions concerning the leaked tax return and healthcare.
